Hobnail blue jug

The „Ananas-Hobnail“ collection – optical forms have been used since the beginning of glassmaking in the Czech lands. Glass was decorated in this way directly in glassworks. The original optical moulds were both clay and metal. With the rise of glass production in Bohemia, the production of these optical moulds was gradually improved, the decors became more complex and the production more demanding. One of these optical moulds that has survived to the present day is this so-called ‚pineapple‘ decor, which was produced from 1880 in glassworks in the Teplice region, as documented by the historical archives of these glassworks. In the last 10 years, this decor has again become in demand throughout Europe. Thanks to this optic, even on summer days your drinks will stay cool longer. We are trying to expand our range of products using this decor, we also produce various glasses, vases, bowls which were hardly produced in history. In the archives we draw from, we have only found jugs in this decoration.
